I go, I went, I go, I say
Do please come back another day.
I go, I went, I go, I say
I cannot handle this today.
I flutter here, I flutter there,
I wish that I could stay somewhere.
I flit, I fly, I touch the sky.
This really is too much to bear.
I stop myself, I stop and stand
I take a breath and look around.
I stop, I breathe, where did I land?
Are my feet firmly on the ground?
I'm in control, it must be true
My life is up to me not you.
So why the flutter, why be blue?
I've found the key. I think it's true.
I need not rush to here or there.
I need not do it all right now.
I must remember and be fair
To me, and you, and this is how.
I'll do the best I can today.
I'll do my best and rest a while.
Your needs and mine I won't delay.
I'll try to meet them with a smile.
But all the while I won't forget
That we are humans with error.
I'll quick forgive myself and let
Me try again to reach splendor.
I am not perfect yet I know.
I'll stop expecting us to be.
We'll travel just as fast or slow
As we are able to, you'll see.
If we keep trying we will get
To heights that yet we have not known.
And we will help some others yet,
To reach with us our heavenly home.
