A Yazamazoo Birthday Poem

There once was a yazamazoo
Who was a little like you
Oh -- not the orange hair, or the spots
It was the personality -- it was just tops!
This yazamazoo liked to smile at me.
I had to smile too -- it was catching you see.
The yazamazoo also liked to chat.
I liked to too, can you imagine that!
And sometimes when faced with a little distress
This yazamazoo would (you'll never guess).
The yazamazoo would cry just a bit
But quickly recover (stiff upper lip!).
This yazamazoo was the caring sort
It showed in its face (if you ignored the wart).
And when really tired -- too tired to be glad
This yazamazoo would sometimes get -- MAD!
I liked this about the yazamazoo
Because sometimes I'm tired -- and I get mad too!
This yazamazoo was graceful most days.
It reminds me of you in so many ways!
So this is why though its looks aren't the same,
I could almost mistake and call Yaz by your name!

Belated Birthday Wish

(Written for my brother-in-law Chris in 2018)

There once was a birthday wish stuck in a bog,
And when it got out it got lost in the fog.
It stumbled around and bumped into a wall,
Which made that poor birthday wish stumble and fall.
But it was important and would not give up
Even when tired, and covered in much.
So it brushed itself off and put on a smile
And walked quite a ways.  Even more than a mile.
It got lost just a bit, and climbed up a tree,
And looked all around at all it could see.
And then that good birthday wish climbed to the gground
And came to my door so that it could be found
And sent on to you, with a smile, though it's late
In the hopes that your birthday really was great!

Yaz-Mazoo's Birthday

 Yaz-Mazoo's Birthday

There is a creature called Yaz-Mazoo
Who has his birthday on the same day as you!
He likes to get up super early because
That's what a happy Yaz-Mazoo does.
He then eats some breakfast of carrots and limes
And reads his favorite book of silly rhymes.
Because it's his birthday he sits by the phone
So all of his Yaz friends can call him at home.
He stands and does stretches for fun now and then,
And looks in the mirror to practice his grin.
He picks out a hat that is festive and bright.
Somehow on his birthday, this hat just feels right.
Then he heads outside to walk in the sun.
All the Yaz shout "Good Wishes".  Wow this is fun!
Then Yaz-Mazoo, as he waves and he smiles
Takes one turn round the garden, which is just 3 miles.
Then, with his hat angled perfectly right,
Yaz-Mazoo, with a smile, heads home for the night,
Where his family is gathered with Crumpets and juice,
And he opens his present - a lovely stuffed moose!
And then, with his smile, which he's practiced all day,
He goes to his bed, and to sleep right away.
His birthday was great.  It was happy and bright.
I hope that your birthday also turns out just right.
