Christmas Night

Christmas Night

Did you ever wonder, where were you and I
When the brand new star appeared up in the dark night sky?
Did we follow the angels to the field where shepherds stayed?
Or look in on the babe who'd be a carpenter by trade?
Did we sing with choirs to herald the Savior's birth?
Or did we celebrate by dreaming of our turn on Earth?
Did we speak to all our friends in joy and great delight?
Or did we kneel and thank our Father all throughout the night?
Perhaps we had some tasks that we had to do.
Telling of the birth that came to pass for me and you.
Maybe we looked on as Mary smoothed the swaddling bands.
And maybe we saw for ourselves the Savior's tiny hands.
Did you ever wonder, where were you and I
When the brand new star appeared up in the dark night sky?
I am not sure exactly how we spent that special night
But I know our hearts were full of thankfulness and light.
Now every Christmas morning, the whole Christmas season too,
Let us think of the Savior's hands and what our hands should do.
And let us find within us that feeling of delight
That I am sure we felt upon that wondrous night.

He Lives!

He Lives!

He's Come!  The Shepherds shouted out.
Come! Let's go!  Let us follow now the star.
And off they go, to see what it's about.
Where?  Oh where?  Wise men question from afar.

The star, it leads, those who follow to the Babe.
The shepherds come, to worship in the night.
It comes to rest, o'er the stable where He lays.
The wise men look, but are too far to reach the site.

The Babe is sent, out of Bethlehem one night.
He must go, to save, for us, His life.
He goes, the wise men follow by the light.
To give Him gifts, as He gives us eternal life.

He grows, and learns, grace by grace into a man.
He teaches all, that they must come and follow Him.
He dies for us.  He suffers for the sins of man.
He lives again, that we too can come be with Him.

He lives!  He lives!  The prophets say today.
Come! Let's go!  Let us follow where they lead.
We come, we follow, like the shepherds on their way.
To the Babe, the Man whose life was for our need.

Shepherds' Field

Shepherds' Field

On a quiet, peaceful, star filled night
Angels came into the shepherds' field
When a brand new star was shining bright
And unto the shepherds some news revealed.

The angels, coming to the shepherds' view
Kindly bid them not to be afraid.
For there was joy in the thing they knew
They had come to share where a baby laid.

All babies are precious, but this one more,
For He was the hope of all on Earth,
All that were there and those before,
And those who had not yet had their birth.

The shepherds heard the angels sing
With joy, and awe, and reverence sweet.
And they felt the joy this babe would bring
And they went to kneel at the baby's feet.

And after seeing the baby there
And worshiping Him there where He lay
They went out into the night to share
The marvelous things they had learned that day.

On a quiet, peaceful, star filled night
Angels came into the shepherds' field
When a brand new star was shining bright
And unto them glad news revealed.

Christmas Joy

 Christmas Joy

The new star shone up in the sky
And a gentle breeze was blowing by
As shepherds left their flocks at night
And went to see a holy sight
A mother with her baby small
A mighty king, on Earth for all.
Our Savior, then an infant son,
The Prince of Peace, The Holy One

And in the night the angels sang
Their praises to His holy name
They sang with gratitude and joy
For the birth of this important boy
Who'd stand against evil and sin
And this hard battle He would win!
He'd conquer Satan and death too.
He'd do it all for me, and you.

So as you look in the Christmas sky
Imagine an angel flying by
Singing with joy in the quiet night
As a new star shines its heavenly light.
Imagine the shepherds running past
In search of a Savior, come at last.
And let your own heart fill with joy
For the hope that was brought by a tiny boy.

Imagine Christmas

 Imagine Christmas

I like to imagine where I was that night
When the new star came that shone so bright.
Could I see the shepherds when the angel said
They'd find Jesus in a manger bed?
Did I raise my voice with those who sang with great delight,
And praise Him with my voice and heart all throughout the night?
Did I follow shepherds to where the baby lay,
And kneel with those who worshiped Him that day?
Did I cry for those who could not see His grace?
Did tears stream down my cheeks as I gazed upon His face?
Did I weep for the sins I knew He'd bear for me?
Did I pray that while on earth I'd have eyes to see,
The beauty of the gift that was born on Christmas day,
The beauty of our Savior come to show us all the way?
Did I thank the Father for giving us His Son;
For loving us so dearly that He sent the Perfect One?
Christ bears all our sorrows, our pain and grief and sin,
And I like to imagine what I did back then,
On the Christmas morning, when joy came to the Earth
And multitudes of angels sang hosanna at His birth.

The Shepherd's Story

The Shepherd's Story

There were shepherds sitting through the night
Watching their sheep in the soft starlight,
When all of a sudden the dark turned bright,
And the poor, humble shepherds quaked with fright.
They fell, with their faces to the ground,
Until they heard a joyful sound.
"Fear not!" said the angel in the midst of light,
As his voice rang out in the quiet night.
"For unto you is born this day"
In a little city not far away,
A Savior, born as a tiny babe,
Creator of all.  Mighty to save.
He is laid in a manger filled with hay,
And we all have cause to rejoice today!
And the shepherds, strong men, and faithful all,
Felt joyful tears at the angel's call.
And suddenly a host of angels sang,
And the joy of the night through the meadows rang.
Then slowly the light began to dim,
As the angels went away from them,
And the shepherds were left in the soft starlight,
To ponder the message given them that night.
But they did not stop to ponder long.
They gathered supplies, and soon were gone.
Joyfully following the Christmas star
To Bethlehem, which was no too far.
And there with reverence and quiet awe
They knelt, and the Savior of all they saw.
And joyful tears escaped again,
As they prayed in thanks, and worshiped Him.
And as morning light began to come,
The shepherds went to tell everyone.
